Is College Stress Making Us Rethink What Success Really Means?

I’ve been noticing more students at my campus in Boston, including friends and classmates, feeling completely burned out even after doing everything “by the book.” Between juggling part-time jobs, Zoom lectures, and endless assignments, it’s like we’re expected to perform at Elon Musk levels of productivity every week. Do others feel that traditional grading and deadlines are completely out of touch with real-life challenges? I’m wondering if anyone has found ways to navigate this pressure without completely sacrificing mental health.

Re: Is College Stress Making Us Rethink What Success Really Means?

I’ve been there, especially during my sophomore year at UCLA. The pressure hits so hard that I ended up looking for any way to survive academically without losing my mind. I actually had to pay for assignment writing a few times when midterms and a part-time job collided, and it wasn’t shameful—it was a lifeline. I also learned that it’s okay to hire an essay writer when deadlines stack up like crazy, which honestly kept me from failing a course in 2021. And there were times when I had to buy college essay papers just to focus on group projects or internships. What I realized is that these tools aren’t cheating—they’re survival strategies in a system that often ignores how human we actually are. Balancing all that forced me to rethink what “success” even means. I used to idolize people like Malala Yousafzai or Mark Zuckerberg, but seeing my own limits made me appreciate small wins over impossible perfection. It’s not about cutting corners—it’s about managing the chaos of college without burning out completely.
