Update many good books here and the Silence of the Lambs is the work that I particularly like. The Silence of the Lambs is a detective horror novel written by author Thomas Harris. First published in 1988, it is a sequel to Harris's 1981 novel Red Dragon. Both novels feature the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The film adaptation directed by Jonathan Demme was released in 1991 to widespread critical acclaim and box office success. It became the third film in history to win five Academy Awards. The novel The Silence of the Lambs was a huge success. Children's novelist Roald Dahl loved the novel, describing it as "exquisite, terrible, the best book I've read in a long time". Author David Foster Wallace used the book as part of his curriculum while teaching at Pomona College and later included it, as well as Thomas Harris's Red Dragon, on his list of ten favorite novels.
